Practicing the Presence of God
"There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet or delightful that that of a continual conversation with God." -- (Brother Lawrence, 1614-1691)
Nicholas Herman, the Carmelite monk known as Brother Lawrence wrote: “We can do little things for God. I turn the cake that is frying on the pan for love of Him… who has given me the grace to work; afterword, I rise happier than a king.”
Lawrence’s point was that we can turn even the simplest actions into a continual prayer (conversation) that will bring us closer to God. And that developing this habit — practicing the presence of God — can lead to a life of joy and peace both here and hereafter.
